Ruinous Reactions is an unofficial fan supplement for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2^nd Edition, which overhauls the standard fear, terror, and insanity rules from the base game. This is intended to treat these issues more respectfully, and with more focus on how they manifest in the real world, with an interest to increasing player agency during these tense moments, rather than removing it. The system is general enough that, with little effort, it could be converted to any roleplaying game.

• More realistic reactions to stress, based on the Fight-or-Flight, Freeze, and Tend-or-Befriend psychological responses,
• A system to model expected behaviours, so your character will develop habits, rather than just random reactions,
• And a more respectful method of creating insanities which reward roleplaying and interestingly affect gameplay, but not at the expense of mentally atypical folks.
